M227R/S Random Tumble Pilling Tester
The SDL Atlas M227R/S Random Tumble Pilling Tester has long been the industry standard for determining the pilling and fuzzing of all fabric types. It meets requirements to perform ASTM D 3512, Pilling and Resistance and Other Related Surface Changes of Textile Fabrics: Random Tumble Pilling Tester Method. The Pilling Tester produces reliable results that correlate well with a fabric’s end-use performance.

Test specimens are tumbled in the cork-lined test chamber by a pair of stainless steel impellers rotating at a constant speed of approximately 1200 rpm for up to 60 minutes. After each test the specimens are removed, lightly cleaned, and evaluated. Susceptible fabrics will develop lint pills typical of everyday wear. Users have also found a high quantitative correlation for surface appearance, changes in appearance, scuffing, fuzzing, and color loss.
